Anti-Ragging Policy of PIIT
Prince Institute of Innovative Technology (PIIT), Greater Noida is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, disciplined and ragging-free campus environment for every student.
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited at PIIT. The institute believes that every student has the right to study, grow and participate in campus life with dignity, confidence and peace of mind.
Purpose of the Policy
The purpose of this Anti-Ragging Policy is to prevent ragging, protect students from harassment, promote respectful behaviour and create a positive academic environment.
PIIT aims to ensure that all students, especially newly admitted students, feel safe, welcomed and supported from the beginning of their academic journey.
Zero Tolerance Toward Ragging
PIIT follows a strict zero-tolerance approach toward ragging. Any act of ragging, harassment, humiliation, intimidation, abuse, forced activity or misconduct will be treated seriously.
Students involved in ragging may face disciplinary action as per institute rules and applicable guidelines.
What May Be Considered Ragging
Ragging may include any act that causes physical, mental, emotional or psychological discomfort to a student.
Examples may include:
Teasing, abusing or humiliating a student
Forcing a student to do any act against their will
Making insulting comments or gestures
Physical or verbal harassment
Mental pressure or intimidation
Asking personal, embarrassing or inappropriate questions
Forcing students to perform tasks, acts or activities
Misusing seniority to dominate juniors
Creating fear, shame or discomfort among students
Any act that affects dignity, safety or confidence of a student
Ragging may occur inside or outside classrooms, hostels, campus areas, transport, online groups, social media platforms or any other place connected with student interaction.
Online Ragging and Cyber Misconduct
Ragging is not limited to physical spaces. Any form of online harassment, bullying, threatening, mocking, sharing insulting content or targeting students through digital platforms may also be treated as misconduct.
This may include misuse of:
WhatsApp groups
Social media platforms
Messaging apps
Email
Online forums
Edited images, videos or memes
Any digital communication channel
Students must use online platforms responsibly and respectfully.
Student Responsibility
Every student of PIIT is expected to maintain discipline, dignity and respectful behaviour toward fellow students, juniors, seniors, faculty, staff and visitors.
Students must not participate in, support, encourage or remain silent about ragging.
Students are expected to:
Respect all classmates and juniors
Avoid abusive or humiliating behaviour
Report ragging immediately
Support a safe campus environment
Follow institute discipline rules
Use social media responsibly
Cooperate with the institute during any inquiry
Responsibility of Senior Students
Senior students play an important role in creating a healthy campus culture. They should guide juniors positively, help them understand campus life and support them in adjusting to the institute environment.
Any misuse of seniority, group pressure or forced interaction will not be accepted.
Support for New Students
PIIT aims to provide a welcoming environment for new students. Orientation programs, faculty interaction, counselling support and student guidance activities may be organized to help students understand academic rules, campus discipline and available support systems.
New students are encouraged to communicate openly with faculty members or authorized officials if they face any discomfort or concern.
Reporting Ragging
Students should immediately report any act of ragging, harassment, bullying, intimidation or unsafe behaviour to the concerned authority of PIIT.
A report may include:
Name of the complainant
Program/course and year
Contact details
Date, time and place of incident
Names of persons involved, if known
Description of the incident
Supporting proof, if available
Names of witnesses, if any
Students may also report concerns through official communication channels.
Confidentiality and Protection
PIIT will make reasonable efforts to handle ragging-related complaints with sensitivity and confidentiality.
The identity of the complainant may be protected wherever possible. However, details may need to be shared with concerned authorities or committees for proper investigation and action.
Students who report genuine concerns in good faith should not face unfair treatment for reporting.
Inquiry and Action
After receiving a complaint, PIIT may review the matter through the concerned authority or committee. The process may include interaction with the complainant, accused student, witnesses, faculty members or staff, depending on the nature of the case.
If ragging or misconduct is found, appropriate disciplinary action may be taken as per institute rules and applicable guidelines.
Possible Disciplinary Action
Depending on the seriousness of the case, disciplinary action may include:
Warning
Written apology
Counselling or corrective instruction
Suspension from classes or activities
Restriction from campus facilities
Cancellation of participation in events or programs
Withholding of certificates or institutional benefits, where applicable
Cancellation of admission, in serious cases
Reporting to concerned authorities, where required
Any other action as per institute rules and applicable law
The final decision will depend on the nature, impact and evidence of the incident.
False Complaints
Students should report only genuine concerns. False, intentionally misleading or malicious complaints may be treated as misconduct and may lead to appropriate action as per institute rules.
At the same time, students should not hesitate to report genuine incidents due to fear or pressure.
Awareness and Prevention
PIIT may conduct awareness activities, orientation sessions, notices, counselling interactions or student meetings to create awareness about anti-ragging rules and student safety.
The institute encourages a campus culture based on respect, cooperation, discipline and mutual support.
Role of Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff members are expected to observe student behaviour, support new students, identify signs of distress and guide students toward proper channels when needed.
They may also help in creating awareness and ensuring that students understand the seriousness of ragging-related misconduct.
Campus Discipline
A ragging-free campus is part of PIIT’s commitment to discipline and student welfare. Every student is expected to maintain behaviour that reflects respect, maturity and responsibility.
Discipline is not only about rules but also about creating a safe and positive environment for learning.
Anti-Ragging Undertaking
Students may be required to submit anti-ragging undertakings or declarations as per institute, university, board, council or regulatory requirements.
Students and parents should carefully read and follow all anti-ragging instructions shared during admission or academic sessions.
