Campus Safety Policy of PIIT

Prince Institute of Innovative Technology (PIIT), Greater Noida is committed to maintaining a safe, disciplined and supportive campus environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors and stakeholders.

This Campus Safety Policy explains the general safety expectations, responsibilities and guidelines that help maintain a secure and positive learning atmosphere at PIIT.

Purpose of the Policy

The purpose of this policy is to promote awareness, discipline, responsible behaviour and preventive safety practices within the campus.

PIIT believes that a safe campus supports better learning, confidence, student well-being and academic growth.

Scope of This Policy

This policy may apply to safety-related matters connected with:

• Classrooms

• Laboratories

• Workshops

• Library

• Administrative areas

• Common areas

• Corridors and staircases

• Campus events and activities

• Sports and cultural programs

• Transport-related coordination, where applicable

• Hostel or residential facility, where applicable

• Digital communication related to campus safety

• Any institute-related activity conducted inside or outside the campus

General Safety Guidelines

All students, faculty, staff and visitors are expected to follow basic safety rules on campus.

Everyone should:

• Follow instructions given by authorized officials

• Maintain discipline in campus areas

• Avoid unsafe behaviour

• Report suspicious or unsafe activities

• Use institute facilities responsibly

• Keep classrooms and common spaces clean

• Avoid crowding or pushing in corridors and staircases

• Follow safety instructions during events and practical sessions

• Respect restricted areas and safety signage

Student Responsibility

Students play an important role in maintaining campus safety. Every student is expected to behave responsibly and follow institute rules.

Students should:

• Carry identity card, where required

• Attend classes and activities in a disciplined manner

• Avoid fights, threats, bullying or unsafe behaviour

• Report ragging, harassment or misconduct immediately

• Use laboratories and workshops carefully

• Avoid damaging institute property

• Follow event and activity guidelines

• Cooperate with faculty, staff and security personnel

• Avoid spreading rumours or panic

Safety in Classrooms

Classrooms should remain peaceful, disciplined and suitable for learning.

Students should not disturb classes, damage furniture, misuse electrical fittings or create unsafe situations inside classrooms.

Any damage, electrical issue or safety concern should be reported to the concerned faculty or administrative staff.

Laboratory and Workshop Safety

Laboratories, workshops and practical learning spaces require special care.

Students must follow instructions given by faculty or lab staff before using equipment, tools, chemicals, machines, electrical systems or technical resources.

Students should:

• Use equipment only with permission

• Wear required safety gear, where applicable

• Avoid unauthorized experiments

• Handle tools and machines carefully

• Report damaged equipment immediately

• Keep work areas clean

• Avoid running, pushing or careless movement

• Follow all practical safety instructions

Any violation of safety rules in laboratories or workshops may lead to restriction from practical activities or disciplinary action.

Electrical and Fire Safety

Students, faculty and staff should use electrical equipment responsibly.

Users should not touch open wires, overloaded sockets, damaged switches or faulty equipment. Any electrical fault should be reported immediately to the concerned office.

Fire safety instructions, emergency exits and safety equipment should not be blocked, damaged or misused.

In case of fire, smoke or emergency, users should follow instructions from authorized officials and avoid panic.

Emergency Situations

In case of emergency, students and staff should remain calm and follow the directions of faculty, administrative staff or authorized personnel.

Emergency situations may include:

• Fire or smoke

• Medical emergency

• Accident or injury

• Unsafe crowd situation

• Violence or threat

• Natural disaster

• Electrical hazard

• Security concern

• Any other urgent safety issue

Emergency concerns should be reported immediately through official channels or to the nearest faculty/staff member.

Medical Assistance

If a student feels unwell or faces injury during campus hours, they should inform a faculty member, department representative or administrative office immediately.

PIIT may provide basic support and help coordinate further medical assistance where required.

Parents or guardians may be informed in serious cases.

Anti-Ragging and Student Protection

Ragging, bullying, harassment, intimidation or any form of unsafe student behaviour is strictly prohibited at PIIT.

Students should report such incidents immediately. Concerns related to ragging or harassment may be handled according to PIIT’s Anti-Ragging Policy, Student Code of Conduct and Grievance Redressal Policy.

Visitor Safety and Entry Guidelines

Visitors are expected to follow campus entry guidelines and cooperate with security or administrative staff.

Visitors may be required to provide basic details, state the purpose of visit and follow instructions given by the institute.

Unauthorized entry, disruptive behaviour or misuse of campus facilities is not allowed.

Restricted Areas

Certain areas of the campus may be restricted for safety, security or administrative reasons.

Students and visitors should not enter restricted areas without permission.

Restricted areas may include:

• Administrative record rooms

• Examination-related areas

• Equipment rooms

• Electrical rooms

• Staff-only areas

• Storage areas

• Construction or maintenance zones

• Any area marked or communicated as restricted

Safety During Events and Activities

During events, workshops, seminars, cultural programs, sports activities or institutional gatherings, students and participants should follow event rules and instructions.

Students should avoid pushing, overcrowding, climbing on unsafe structures, damaging decorations or creating disturbance.

Event organizers, faculty coordinators and volunteers should support safe movement, proper seating and disciplined participation.

Sports and Physical Activity Safety

Students participating in sports or physical activities should follow instructions from coordinators, faculty members or trainers.

Students should avoid unsafe play, intentional injury, misuse of sports equipment or participation without proper readiness.

Any injury or unsafe condition should be reported immediately.

Transport-Related Safety

If transport-related services or coordination are provided, students should follow transport rules and maintain discipline while boarding, travelling or waiting.

Students should not create disturbance, damage vehicles, stand in unsafe areas or behave irresponsibly during travel.

Transport-related concerns should be reported to the concerned authority.

Cleanliness and Hygiene

A clean campus supports health and safety. Students, staff and visitors should help maintain cleanliness in classrooms, corridors, washrooms, laboratories, library, canteen areas and common spaces.

Waste should be disposed of properly. Spitting, littering, damaging property or creating unhygienic conditions is not acceptable.

Digital Safety and Online Conduct

Campus safety also includes responsible online behaviour.

Students should not use digital platforms to threaten, harass, bully, defame, mislead or target any student, faculty member, staff member or institution.

Misuse of social media, WhatsApp groups, edited images, fake notices or harmful messages may be treated as misconduct.

Reporting Safety Concerns

Students, parents, faculty, staff or visitors should report safety concerns through proper channels.

A safety concern may include:

• Unsafe behaviour

• Ragging or bullying

• Harassment or threat

• Injury or accident

• Damaged equipment

• Fire or electrical risk

• Suspicious activity

• Misuse of campus facilities

• Emergency situation

• Any condition affecting student safety

Reports should include clear details such as date, time, location, persons involved and description of the concern.

Role of Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff members are expected to support a safe campus environment by guiding students, monitoring discipline, reporting safety risks and assisting during emergencies.

They may also help identify student distress, unsafe behaviour or facility-related concerns.

Role of Security and Administration

Security and administrative teams may monitor campus movement, visitor entry, safety instructions, facility use and emergency response coordination.

Students and visitors should cooperate with authorized security and administrative personnel.

Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is not allowed on campus:

• Fighting or physical violence

• Threatening or intimidating others

• Ragging, bullying or harassment

• Carrying weapons or harmful objects

• Use of alcohol, drugs or prohibited substances

• Damaging institute property

• Blocking emergency exits

• Misusing fire safety equipment

• Unauthorized entry into restricted areas

• Creating panic or spreading false rumours

• Unsafe use of electrical or laboratory equipment

• Any act that harms safety, discipline or dignity

Disciplinary Action

Violation of campus safety rules may lead to disciplinary action depending on the seriousness of the matter.

Action may include warning, counselling, parent intimation, restriction from facilities, suspension from activities, recovery of damage cost, disciplinary proceedings or other action as per institute rules and applicable law.

Safety Awareness

PIIT may conduct safety awareness activities, notices, orientation guidance, faculty instructions, emergency drills or student interactions to promote safe behaviour.

Students are encouraged to take such instructions seriously and participate responsibly.
